How to make a word book in Design Studio Tutorial, Princess Word Book

princesswordbook

Here is a three part tutorial on how to create  a word book in Cricut Design Studio.  It is all silent, no verbal instructions.

This is a Princess Word Book using only Storybook Cricut Cartridge.   This biggest tip that I can give in making a wordbook is to copy and paste your square so it will line up correctly each time and start your letters with the Shadow size.  When it comes time to make your Shadow letters you use the base font.  It makes all the difference in the world and makes shadowing so easy.

All three parts are available in mp4 version for download.  If you decide to download it, please just leave a comment.  Thanks!

Daughter Wordbook Cricut Storybook Cartridge

I just finished cutting the wordbook and I LOVE it.  I changed it up a little bit.  My first time cutting looked like this.

I did not like the open spaces.  I wanted to be able to maximize the space where I could add pictures or embelish the word book more so I went back to the Design Studio and hid the contours of the letters and ended up with this.

I like the second version much better.  After cutting the paper to cover my book this is what I ended up with so far.

In Design Studio I was not able to save the file with the contours hid.  I would reopen it and some of them would be hid and some of them not.  I think it must be a flaw in the program.

If you need help on how to hide the countours please see the following video.

I had to adjust the length of some of the word book pages since I changed the way I was cutting it. If you would like to download this version please click on the following link.

Version 2 of Daughter Wordbook Cricut Storbybook Cartridge

If you want a good source for chipboard I recommend www.uline.com chipboard.  I got 625 12×12 pieces for $53.00 plus shipping.  It is .022 thickness.  I cut it with my regular cricut blade with 3x multi cut.  It reminds me of the thickness of the cardboard pads on the back of regular notepads.

I want this to be my next project.  My daughters 2 year birthday is right around the corner and I want to make something that she will have for a very long time.  I have not had a chance to cut this yet, once I do I will post pictures.  This entire book was done using only the Storybook Cricut Cartridge.

***** When I started cutting this file today I realized that the E did not come out shaddowed very well so I fixed it.  The download link has been corrected.
